The rise of organic and non GM foods
Over the past few years organic and non GM food seems to have grown and grown in popularity. More and more consumers are choosing the non GM or organic options for their food and are actively looking for this in shops as well as online.
But what is the reason for this? Why is it that these non GM and organic foods are on the rise?
Consumers trust that it is going to be good for them
We all want to make sure that what we eat is going to be good for us. We look for healthy foods that are packed full of good ingredients. This has definitely something that has had an impact on the popularity of organic and non GM foods. The idea of putting something into our bodies that could be packed full of chemicals and non-food additives isn’t exactly appealing, which means that if we can find foods that are natural and come just as they should, then there is a much higher chance that this will be the option that we go for.
Consumers know it is better for the environment
As well as looking after ourselves, more and more of us want to have a bigger helping hand in looking after the world around us too. Organic foods are known to be produced in a way that is going to help the environment. They could use sustainable farming methods, as well as treat the animals that are used to produce the meat, a whole lot better. Giving them the space to roam and the ability to live a happy life before they are sent into the meat manufacturing process.
Consumers want to support high quality local businesses
One of the main hopes of consumers when they buy organic meat and food is that it is produced locally. Whilst this isn’t always the case, there is a high chance that the farm or factory that has produced these amazing foods are going to be a smaller, more local business. Supporting these independent businesses is vital for our economy and therefore is something that we are seeing more and more often.
